Nevada’s most expensive home is a $64.5 million mansion perched atop a cliff overlooking Lake Tahoe.
The mansion sits on five acres of land along Highway 28 in Crystal Bay, according to Realtor.com. The property is packed with a clifftop primary residence, a second lakeside home closer to the shores of Lake Tahoe, and a cable car connecting the two.
Stuart Yount, CEO of the building materials company Fortifiber, and his wife Geri built the house from scratch, according to The Wall Street Journal. They purchased the land in 1994 and spent five years completing the mansion.
The mansion has been the Yount’s primary home for 25 years, sales agent Mike Dunn of Chase International told Insider. Dunn shares the list with Kerry Donovan, Shari Chase and Susan Lowe.
The Younts listed the house for $75 million in 2017, only to take it off the market in 2020. At its current price of $64.5 million, the mansion is an extreme outlier for Crystal Bay, where the median listing price is $5.5 million, per Realtor.com data.
Although easily visible from Lake Tahoe, the mansion is hidden in plain sight from the state highway, Dunn said.
“When you drive down the freeway, you only notice a rooftop of what people perceive as a house; but that’s just the entrance pavilion and the garages. From there, you take the funicular or walk along a beautiful landscaped path to the main entrance.” Dunn said.
The kitchen has a chef’s island with granite counter tops.

The mansion has six bedrooms. The master suite features vaulted wood ceilings and a custom fireplace.
Above the fireplace is a hand-carved cabinet that hides the television, Dunn said in the video.
The master suite has floor to ceiling windows that open to panoramic views of the lake.
The main bathroom has a steam shower and Jacuzzi.
The bathroom window features glow-in-the-dark glass etching, according to the video.
The main office comes with a fireplace and bookcase made from Brazilian mahogany, Dunn said in the video.
One of the office doors leads to a private balcony that connects to the master suite, according to the video.
The beach house was completed in 2015. It took the Younts more than 10 years to get the permits to begin construction on the house, Dunn told Insider.
The Younts had to work closely with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to ensure minimal environmental impact to the surrounding area, Dunn added.
The Younts also recently obtained a permit to build a dock, which is expected to be completed this year and is included in the sale of the mansion, Dunn said.
The Younts designed the beach house to entertain guests and host events, Dunn said.
“The beach house looms right over the water’s edge; you walk into this amazing living room with a huge fireplace, massive bar, and doors that retract to a large patio overlooking Lake Tahoe,” he added.
There’s also a barbecue grill on the lower level and two guest bedrooms, Dunn said.
